Barcelona is the second largest city in Spain but many say Barcelona is the heart of Spain. Barcelina has a lot to offer vacationers besides the requisite soccer. There is much to see and to do here and getting here is easy. Entry into Barcelona is via Barcelona International Airport. There are several different airports in Girona and in Reus that will also service the Barcelona area. Rail sea bus and car are also ways to enter into Barcelona. You can use public transport, bicycle, scooter, tram and car to get around in Barcelona. So what is there to see here?
If you are looking for historical buildings, there are plenty of buildings for you to choose from. The Cathedral of St. Eulalia, Santa Maria del Pi and the Palau Reial Major are just a couple of the buildings that you can see. La Sagrada Familia church is also something to take a look at. The Gothic quarter of Barcelona has many sites listed in the UNESCO World Heritage Sites. Now if museums are your idea, there are several museums that will feed your need. The National Museum of Art of Catalonia is one such place. The Picasso museum is another museum that is dedicated to the artist Picasso.
Parks are plentiful in Barcelona. Montjuic is the biggest of all the parks in Barcelona. There is also Orenta Castle Park, Parc De La Ciutadella and Labyrinth Park is also great places to see. If you want to have beaches, Barcelona aims to please with beaches such as Sant Sebastia and Nova Mar Bella are just two of the beaches that can be seen and played on. For shoppers, Barcelona is a haven for great shopping such as Maremagnum and El Corte Ingles for example. Girona is also a good day trip away from Barcelona. If you love sports, there are several different places for you to go to.
FC Barcelona is the most recognized football club and Camp Nou is the most recognized place for Barcelona football. Open Seat Godu is also best when viewed at Real Club de Tenis Barcelona. If you love racing then you will enjoy watching the Spanish Grand Prix in Circuit de Catalunya. The Barcelona Marathon is usually held in March. So there are a lot of sports that are available for the sports fan.
